Bored, so I decided to amuse with a dream journal entry from 5 years ago, ha. I was partially asleep and will be odd or just weird I dunno. I remember the dream so I will add in the bits that I didn't get in since I was half dead trying to make sure i got the gist of it. Here goes...
Saturday, 4/20/2008- Earth, Ice Age, and Fall
We were moving to another planet that seemed to be half forest, and a mix between desert and what we called "wet-dunes" that felt like moist beach sand in your bare skin. We had never seen the forest parts of the planet[up close like others had]. We were told that most of the plant life were hostile, carnivorous, and occasionally VERY fast when it was chasing down prey. Apparently, the dominate plant species evolved detachable root systems, where they could disconnected themselves from their deeply dug in roots to capture mobile prey, then return and reattach to themselves. They created their energy mostly through photosynthesis, but on days with little sunlight or the twilight season the planet goes through ever few year. Due to the planets oddly tilted axis and the multiple eclipses of it's six moons, the omnivorous plants will hunt and slowly digest each meal to survive with little sunlight.
When we arrived at Sea Sands, or Suckiest Sea Resort as other called it, soldiers and doctors met with us. The soldiers checked our IDs while the doctors were telling us we had to have NEW immunizations after a few more people fell victim. They hadn't cared so much or took precautions when they arrived. They knelt down and kissed the sands before soldiers could stop them, and since they didn't get vaccinated because their religion said it was bad... Needless to say, others that HAD the same answer about vaccines quickly wanted them.
Most of the people were happy just being somewhere warm, not having heavy thick coats on day and night sitting by a fire. To them, this little patch of dampish sand, tents, and sunlight were heaven in comparison. The new ice age had screwed the weather up so bad that the record low for California was -30F in the middle of April, and it was worse in other parts of the planet. Canada and north had heated up quickly, flooded the upper half, then froze over in under a century. Canadians immigrated into the US too fast to count. The norther US states became statewide refugee camps with very little chance of helping everyone. riots in the groups, theft, murder, some groups band together to subjugate and take power. The rest of the world were having problems, but we were dealing with the most. Mexico offered us food, aid, and assistance, as did european and asian countries. Political power all but dwindled because of the mass flow of people. Americans wanted to help, but the majority felt it wasn't their responsibility to assist our neighbors to the north financially(thinking we were fine/rich/and dandy). Rioters across the country were protesting the new Red Maple tax that was passed, that took $.05 of every dollar made to assist in keeping refugee camps with cots, simple food, used clothing, bare essentials. Within 10 years of the signing, Canadians were called "pitchers" by most americans, because most of them were refused citizenship due to an increase dislike against anyone not born in america, they could not hold an official job and could not rent or buy a house which very few did. So most would just 'pitch' up a rigged tent from discarded boxes. Mortality rate in the US had gone up 10% in the first few years alone for Americans, the toll for Canadians was higher. Other countries saw this and were outraged, allies shunned us and told the leaders of the remaining political circle to assist those dying from the cold. The leader said it was god's will and he would not intervene in the actions taken by god. Then the wars started...
The people that were now on the planet, including myself, were descendants of those who survived. A population of 6 Billion was dwindled down to around 950 million. Small cities still thrived that had advanced before the major wars, but were still targets for militia groups who'd take advantage and scavenge through cities that were bombed. biggest groups in America lived in the forests. Many groups gave themselves names after supplies that they were most abundant of so it was easier to trade, and only those they trusted knew the trade name. One group had luckily come across a semi full of shake to charge/body heat charging prototype flashlights from MagLite. They were The Maglites [My dreams can by cheesy and ridiculous...i know!!], but you get the picture...
